THE OBITUARY:
Dr. Bolo ~ 1995
Lost when I changed a setting on our computer and
couldn't boot up. The computer was replaced and
the HD contents lost.. which is too bad because it
was a really really easy thing to fix, I just didn't
know how at the time :(
Dr. Bolo was inspired by Dr. Sbaitso - basically an AI
shrink would talk to you about your feelings. I think
there may have also been a quiz mode as well. Bolo,
dressed up as a doctor ala Dr. Mario, would appear as
the background.
This game was unique as my sister and I wrote it
together.
The EmberCrystal 3 ~ 1995
Lost in the same way as Dr. Bolo, this game was the
largest and most involved of the 3 EmberCrystal titles.
Out of the 3 of them, this one would have been most
likely to make the "Games" page, rather than "The
Archives".
There were multiple worlds and a full screen
backdrop rather than a tiny square window.
(Although back in those low-res days, those windows
were pretty huge). Also, I believe the interface
was completely overhauled, though it's hard to
recall exactly. It even featured some animation
(a moving elevator cutscene sticks out in my
mind).
The Big Cheese, a popular character I created for a
short story in high school, also appeared in the
game, as the ruler of a distant land,
Cheese-O-Land. (At least I think that's what I
called it.)
Now that was a cheesy storyline. Heh.
